Saturday Night Browns Backers Bash San Diego

10/3/2015

This year we chose the Chargers game as the destination for our annual roadie. It was a little too far for the crew and since the FansVan doesn't have wings, Cathy and Andy flew out. Aside from the game the weekend's activites included us attending the Saturday Night Browns Backers Bash at the Towne and Country Resort and Convention Center in San Diego. The event was attended by hundreds of fans with Browns legends Ernest Byner, Kevin Mack and Felix Wright as the honored guests. Ernest, Kevin and Felix were awesome. They took the time to talk and joke with every Browns fan who engaged them in conversation They also honored each and every photo request by any fan who asked. It was really a big honor to meet these legendary Browns alumni who couldn't have been more humble and gracious.

The event was put together by Southern California Browns Backers Association President Kevin Hoyt. We first met Kevin and his son Andrew in Green Bay when they joined our pregame tailgate before the Packers game. Those guys were big fun to hang with and we've kept in touch with Kevin. A special thanks to our friend Kevin of the SCBBA for pulling off such a great event. It was definitely an evening to remember.

Browns Bye Week Bash

11/11/2012

What do you do on a bye week when you live in Canton? You go to the Browns Bye Week Bash of course at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The event was well attended, although there was a disappointing turnout of Browns tailgating vehicles. It was a great opportunity to meet some fellow fans such as Old Man Jay and Bob of the Burnt River Browns Backers. We also had the opportunity to meet some former Browns players from back in the day. Reggie Langhorne (85-91), Webster Slaughter (86-91) and Eric Metcalf (89-94) were on hand to sign autographs and were gracious enough to honor every sigle photo request from fans....including us. These guys were great and they really seemed to enjoy interacting with all of the fans who showed up for this event.

For anyone who has never been to The Pro Football Hall of Fame you really need to make the trip. "The Hall" has everything the NFL fan could ask for. The "Future 50" Expansion and Renovation Project is in its final phase of completion and looks great so far. The Hall has changed a lot since the days when Andy used to ride his bike there after school and is a must visit for any football fan. A special thanks to Reggie, Web and Eric for taking the time and to the Hall of Fame and its staff for their friendly, Disney-like approach.

Vegas baby, yeah.....

9/16/2012

On a recent trip to Las Vegas for a buddy's wedding (a wedding in Las Vegas not to be confused with a "Las Vegas Wedding") we had the chance to drop in on the Vegas Connection Browns Backers at their meeting place Henry's American Grille in Henderson, NV. Even though the game was another loss, we had a great time! Loren Kiner, the club president, runs a well organized club and keeps this group community oriented with club proceeds benefitting the Cleveland Browns Foundation and the Wounded Warrior Project. Vice President Nate Bolden, a former Canton resident, was a super nice guy and he was on the spot taking photos for their website. Vegas Connction's meeting place, Henry's American Grille, offers up good grub that's reasonably priced and a hell of a lot cheaper than a meal on The Strip. I'd recommend their corned beef hash, served with 3 eggs any style right on top....for me it was the perfect "day after the wedding" hangover meal. So, if you ever find yourself in Vegas on a football Sunday, be sure to drop in on the Vegas Connection Browns Backers for the game. Our sincere thanks to Loren and Nate for making us feel right at home.

With Vegas Connection President Loren Kiner. Andy with his girl showing off her raffle winning. Winner of the FansVan shirt donated to the raffle.

Remember this one? After being knocked silly by Joey Porter back in 2000, punter Chris Gardocki lets Bill Cowher and the rest of the Steeler bench know what's on his mind.. Gardocki was fined $5000 by the league....the best five grand he ever spent!

One of the most iconic of all Browns photos transformed into a watercolor and suitable for framing...enjoy.

The Bowl Nazi.....not Browns related, but pretty clever just the same.

Mike Polk Videos

Mike Polk is a pretty funny guy and a dedicated Browns fan. Check out these two videos....well played Mike!

PS-Yo Mike, if you're reading this....stop by and have a beer or a cup of "porch crawl" with us.

The Factory of Saddness

A true classic with over a million views. Notice that Mike is wearing a Pontbriand jersey...pretty ironic considering that Ryan Pontbriand's botched snap was his ticket outta here the same week this video made its way to YouTube.

Dear The Cleveland Browns

You can't tell me that this hasn't crossed your mind more than once....pure genius!
